Perfetto, Kwality, FMG triumph in Perfetto Basketball

Leo Tablante and Jay Liam combined for 48 points to lead Perfetto to an 86-82 victory over Wasalak in the 2012 Perfetto Second Conference basketball tournament organized by Industrial Sports Association (ISA) at the Industrial City Dawah Office (ICDO) court in Industrial City Phase I on the outskirts of Jeddah.
The deadly duo went full blast in the final quarter especially in the last two minutes with Tablante, scoring 13 of his 26 points in the final quarter, going on to claim Best Player of the game honors.
After trailing in the second and third quarters, Perfetto hit hard in the final quarter. Liam supported Tablante and also had 13 of his 22 points in the fourth period.
Also scoring in double digits for Perfetto was Boyce with 17 points. Glenn Manalili shone for Wasalak with 38 points and the veteran Brian added 14.
“The boys were really determined to win the game and played so hard,” Perfetto coach Jess Dicen said.
Powerhouse Kwality rattled off 10 unanswered points and allowed the enemy its first field goal only after five minutes in the first quarter and went on to score an 86-77 victory over struggling Combibo Catering.
Osmena scored 14 points while strutting his defensive and rebounding skills to become the best player of the game. Star point guard Puroy Codotco of Combibo Catering led his team with 24 points. along with his play making ability.
Kwality coach Rasheed Guelas said “the secret of winning was the balanced scoring of my men.”
FMG brought down B-Cola 47-42 in a low-scoring turnover-littered game.
Enoc was chosen Best Player of the game. He finished with 11 points, the same output posted by teammates Ayco and Paira, as FMG won its first game in the tournament.
Luna I drubbed Printo Pack 86-63 and the best player of the game was Barry Nader who scored 25 points.
Elsewhere, PSI pounded out a 90-68 triumph over Sesab while Almira tasted its first win in the tournament against AGM 58-50. — With input from Janus Napuecas Gella
